Perform more sophisticated parameter mapping sonification. Choose a data set and synthesis technique to design a more sophisticated parameter mapping sonification. This sonification should attempt to clearly display important/interesting "higher level" information in the dataset. At least one parameter needs to be derived from "metrics" or analysis of the data.

Perform basic parameter mapping sonification using pure sinusoids, mapping data to frequency and amplitude. Use at least three simultaneous oscillators positioned differently in space (position can also be mapped to data), and experiment to find useful ranges, speeds and combinations. Provide a description of the data and the process in markdown with links to the sound files or an ipython notebook.

Realize an audification of data. The data can come from any web source, but be sure to choose a source either with periodic/oscillatory components or with distinct events (like seismograph data), or remove the "trend" from data to sonify the details. Explore at least three different speeds or transformations of the data. Submit an ipython notebook with clear descriptions of the data source and the required processing.

Data sonification in auditory displays can provide information to complement, augment or replace visual displays. This course will present the established techniques for auralization, parameter driven sonification and model based sonification.
Additionally, as a tool for exploring sonification, practical aspects of writing and working with plugins and dynamic libraries in the context of audio and multimedia applications will be discussed and explored.
