Re: w09 Final Work-In-Progress
I would like to install microphones in public area like a park or a library and display monitors around the area so that people in the space can see on the monitor map where the quiet and louder areas are located. These microphones will be based on the G.R.A.S type50GI using LabVIEW and NI USB-9234 ...

Re: w08 Expand the Vision
Mapping Sound I am interested in the technology of mapping spacing using sound received by special microphones. One of these is the G.R.A.S type50GI using LabVIEW and NI USB-9234 which is shown in the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kduw8azvaGM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noise_map http://map...

Re: w07 Art Technology Science Culture Research
1. Gustav Metzger - Auto Destructive Art Gustav Metzger wrote proposal for large-scale public pieces that would destroy themselves overtime. Re: w06 Belief in the Image
Legrady makes many valid points in his article focused on the authority of the image. The photograph has held historical significance in the belief that it portrays the truth. The camera was a device created to record the world. This history has permeated into modern belief even though camera and ph...

Re: w04 Classification
Picture 21.png Classification: 1) The first thing these photos have in common is the color. All of the photos are pretty bright colors with rich blues and distinctive colors separating the top half of the pictures from the bottom halves. 2) All of the photos have a human presence or figure in them....

Re: w03 Roland Barthes
ad.jpg In this advertisement for Nivea, the viewer is given a dramatic image of man getting ready to toss a mask. This is the non-coded message that Barthes writes about. The man in the ad is dressed very nicely with a white collared shirt under a nice gray v-neck sweater, pressed pants, and some d...

Re: w02 Chronophotography & Marey
Steve Mamber writes, “Marey’s chronophotographs are constructed to reveal the hidden, not record the already visible.” I found Mamber’s “Marey, the analytic, and the digital” interesting because he touches on the difference views Marey and Lumiere had for the future of the motion that was being capt...

Re: w01 Camera Obscura
While researching the camera obscura a lot of the sources do not really explain the science behind why or how a camera obscura actually works. They usually just propose that light shoots through the hole and the image from the outside magically appears inverted on the wall in the inside of the room....
