1. Proximity Lab's "Footprints" Installation

Image

The Proximity Installation involves a study exploring "the progressive roles that computational logic and physically integrated interface can play in interactive experience design" (http://www.proximity-lab.com/docs/proximity_lab.pdf).

The actual use of this artwork is as goes:
"If the changing positions of participants are the primary input for the system, then the visual material projected onto the platform floor is the primary output. This dynamic visual layer exists to reveal the nature of social activity on both individual and collective levels. To leave room for subjective interpretation and a more expressive experience, imagery should be more abstract than literal." (http://www.proximity-lab.com/docs/proximity_lab.pdf).

]2. "Scribble" by Golan Levin and Scott Gibbons

The Scribble project enables its users to interact with the piece and create and perform abstract animation and sound, simultaneously, in real time http://www.moodvector.com/concerts/scribble.htm. This piece creates a kinetic light performance as well as an audible performance.

3. Joseph Nechvatal’s "Decalcomania and the Final Fulfillment of Death"

Image

Joseph Nechvatal is a digital artist who works with destructing and veiling images digitally to construct his artworks. The piece "Decalcomania and the Final Fulfillment of Death" is described a "superfluous, devalued, and there is a value in withholding it from free circulation" http://www.nechvatal.net/.

4. P.E.A.R.T. - "The Robotic Drum Machine" by Frankie Graffagnino and helped by Michael DeRouen, Jeremy Moreau, and Jackie Robertson.Frankie Graffagnino, Michael DeRouen, Jeremy Moreau, and Jackie Robertson.

This drum machine was a senior project for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. P.E.A.R.T. stands for Pneumatic and Electronic Actuated RoboT. This machine can be attached to any drum set and the objective is to create a robot using an MIDI file as the input to create a sound that sounds like a real human drummer http://www.graffagnino.net/wwwpeart/.

5. Rafael Lozano-Hemmer's "Body Movies"

http://www.akrylic.com/wp-content/uploa ... 973532.jpg

Rafael Lozano is SO rad. His projects are large-scale interactive installation projects. His Body movies consist of "thousands of photographic portraits, previously taken on the streets of the host city, are shown using robotically controlled projectors. However the portraits only appear inside the projected shadows of the passers-by, whose silhouettes can measure between two and twenty-five metres depending on how close or far away they are from the powerful light sources positioned on the ground. A video surveillance tracking system triggers new portraits when all the existing ones have been revealed, inviting the public to occupy new narratives of representation."http://www.lozano-hemmer.com/body_movies.php
