I took these pictures near the beach, and used a mixture of noise and blur to break down the image. I also sized down the images and then enlarged it while keeping the pixel proportions,

I chose a set of photos on flowers and changed them with blur, noise, sizing....and such. I didn't use just one filter for each of them, but rather, combined two to three different filters at the same time. Also, I repeated the filters for several times; for example: blur > noise > blur > nose...etc. For this project, I sort of push it to the extreme way, so the pictures do not look as the way they were before. Below are the result I came out with.

I altered the hue, saturation, brightness, contrast, lightness, shadows, and used color curves on all these photos. I also used a blur and gaussian blur, added noise, and used pixelation adjustments along with some other adjustments to create these images.

These are just a few pictures of my dad as he was growing up. I thought it would be interesting to add noise and/or blur to them (in order to make them nearly indistinguishable) because, although I know my dad very well now, I never have and never will get the chance to ever meet him at age 15 or 21 or 25...
I experimented with saturation, blur, noise, curves, etc.

I love the idea of hinting at some sort of narrative, or creating a mystery, so that was my main goal with these images. I desaturated all the images, messed with the contrast and brightness, and tweaked the blur and noise filters (using different types of both) till I got a desired effect. Sometimes I would run the image through these steps more than once.

Having re-watched "The Thin Red Line" recently, I was inspired to create narratives that higlighted those moments between brief bouts of combat when some soldiers undergo periods of introspection.

The first is a screen-grab from the documentary film, "Restrepo." Noise was added alongside some gaussian blur. I had tried to reduce the size of the image, but didn't meet with as much success as my later attempt with the "Marlboro Marine" image.

The second, a NATO soldier watching the line in Afghanistan. Contrast and saturation was adjusted to the point that only a silhouette of the soldier is visible, which was made even more ambiguous through use of blur.

The third, the now famous image of the "Marlboro Marine" taken during the Battle of Fallujah." Image size was reduced, then blown-back up again. Colour balance was adjusted to give it a more orange, sandy hue. I played around with noise some more as well as the gaussian blur.

The fourth image I had done for fun. It is the solar array at Nellis AFB. Gave it a bit more saturation and brightness and added a touch of noise, and I experimented with motion-blur to give the sense that they were being adjusted to the aspect of the sun.

These images are a collection of photographs I have taken distorted by using noise, blur, pixilate, and resizing techniques.

Used different blur and noise techniques. (Redo)
