w04 - Technical Choice

Create one or more images using the image processing components of Photoshop. Consider processes covered in the class demos such as: Actions, HDR, PhotoMerge, Image Stacking; filters that include blur, sharpen, custom; Image processing for color balance, curves, saturation, averaging, etc.

For this assignment, I took a set of 50 photos from Manzanita Village and the neighboring bluffs, during an afternoon for an hour. I divided the 50 into 5 sets of 10 images, which I put together using a script:
File > Scripts > Load Files into Stack...

Afterward, I created an Action where I did two things:
1) Set the Opacity to 65%
2) Set the Mode to Soft Light

I applied the Action to all ten layers of each piece. I really liked how the colors came out, and the small details you see here and there. I came up with the following results:

First 10 images (#00-09)
HW4_1.png
Second set 10 images (#10-19)
HW4_2.png
Third set of 10 (#20-29)
HW4_3.png
Fourth set (#30-39)
HW4_4.png
Last set of 10 images (#40-49)
HW4_5.png

I utilized photomerge to merge photos of different plants and flowers, i changed the saturation, color balance, curves, hue, did a radial blur, and some other changes to create these images that play with light and nature.

This weekend I went to the Santa Barbara Fair and took multiple pictures to create one HDR photo. Some of the pictures ended up getting distorted because the consecutive pictures I took were all slightly different since people/rides were moving. I took 5 consecutive pictures with different f-stops and shutter speeds, to get a range of overexposed and underexposed pictures.

I loaded the files into a stack, applied a set of actions to every other image, applied different levels of curves to each layer. I switched around the layers here.

For the first two images, I created an Action where I adjust the size of image and curves of it. Then I adjust them in this order: File- Auto- HDR Pro.
For the next four images, I used the function of Image Stacking. And I tried different effects of the function Smart Objects. I applied different adjustments like contrast, curves and saturation as well. I’m trying to make various combinations of images and effects.

I stacked images of airports in California. The first image is set of Southern California airports and the second image is set of Northern California airports. I used Image Stacking and then made variations on each layers. I used variations such as color balance, changed saturation, sharpen, and color burn.

I used photomerge in all of my images and then adjusted each image by altering contrast/saturation/color and applying various filters.
